Overview
Magic Boric Acid Powder is a finely ground high-quality boric acid powder. It serves as both a superior-grade flux and a deoxidizing agent. You can also create a paste by mixing it for use as a flux. Additionally, when combined with denatured alcohol, Magic Boric Acid Powder doubles as a glaze.
Directions For Use
For use as a glaze or flux, blend the powder with distilled water or ideally denatured alcohol until it forms a paste. Apply this mixture by dipping or pouring it over the piece to provide protection. Ignite with a flame; the alcohol will evaporate, leaving a protective layer behind.
During the melting of precious metals like gold and silver, adding this powder aids in dissolving oxides and impurities. It creates a fluid borate slag that gathers on the molten metal’s surface. Periodically remove this slag using carbon-graphite or clay rods. Soak the rods, then steam them to eliminate any excess black residue.
